At the special invitation of the President of Parliament, who sought to honor the direct descendant of the Prophet (peace be upon him), a distinguished delegation from the Sharifian House, Ahlulbayt (the Prophet’s household), visited the House of Parliament in Bangkok on September 19, 2024. This esteemed group included notable figures such as Sheikh Dr. Hamzah el Kettani and Asary Latay (baba su), a respected religious teacher based in Narathiwat, Southern Thailand, along with the journalist M. Kortbi Khalid from Le Monde infos. Their visit aimed to engage meaningfully with local Members of Parliament.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Head Speaker of Parliament Wan Muhammad Nur Matha and other members in the House’s Special Reception Room. Following this, the delegation observed an ongoing parliamentary session, the delegation greeted the Thai people live on national télévision.

In a gesture of appreciation, Sharif Sayyid Mohamed Amine presented Wan Muhammad with a Crafted gold engraved Shield as a special reward for his efforts for peace, and draped him in a symbolic Arab cape (burnus), reflecting the deep connections between the Sherifien House and the Thai community. GRACING SHEIKH AL ISLAM OF THAILAND
Prior to the auspicious visit to the House of Parliament, on the morning September 16, 2024, the Moroccan delegation had the honor of meeting His Eminence Sheikh Haroun Boonchom, the esteemed Grand Mufti and Sheikh al-Islam (Chularajmontri) of the Kingdom of Thailand, may Allah preserve him , in his office in Bangkok.

As the leader of Thailand’s Muslim community, numbering approximately ten million, Sheikh Haroun oversees all Islamic institutions across the Kingdom’s 76 provinces, including scholarly organizations, mosques, Sufi orders, endowments, and halal monitoring bodies.
The meeting sought to cultivate robust connections between the Sherifien Ahl al-Bayt House and Thailand’s Islamic communities and governing bodies, reinforcing ties and mutual understanding. During this significant encounter, Sharif Sayyid Mohamed El Hasani presented Sheikh Haroun with a beautifully framed gold Shield symbolizing Morocco’s rich cultural heritage and honored him with the symbolic draping of the Moroccan cloak. In return, the Sheikh graciously bestowed a symbolic gift upon the Moroccan delegation.
